Abstract:
This document contains information regarding cables, cable equalizers, and receiver circuits including adaptors to or from standard AES3 equipment and cabling where it is required to transmit AES3 formatted signals over long distances (up to 1000 m), or in a video installation using analog video distribution equipment. It is not intended to be an alternative electrical specification to AES3, which is based on balanced, shielded, twisted-pair cable transmission over distances of up to 100 m. The information is based on studies and laboratory experiments discussed in a series of technical reports that have been partly summarized and included. (23 pages)
NOTE This document was WITHDRAWN on 2010-07-09. The reason for this withdrawal is that the content of AES-3id has been superseded by AES3-4-2009, Annex D (Normative) "Coaxial transmission", and by AES-2id Annex C "Coaxial cable adapters and equalizer characterization", and so this Information Document has become redundant.
