This procedure provides standard<br \/>\n.measurement techniques for semiconductor lasers.<\/p>\n<p>This procedure covers the measurement of the threshold current<br \/>\nof semiconductor lasers either as a laser chip placed on a submount<br \/>\nto facilitate handling or as an assembled laser package.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hazards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This procedure involves potentially hazardous operations as<br \/>\ndiscussed in this section. During the measurement, a laser will<br \/>\nemit non-visible light. Personnel are strongly cautioned never to<br \/>\nlook directly into the laser at anytime.
