It also specifies the media and<br \/>\nnetwork configuration<br \/>\nrequirements necessary to ensure agreed levels of data integrity before data link layer<br \/>\nerror checking and interoperability between<br \/>\ndevices at the physical layer. The fieldbus physical layer conforms to layer 1 of the<br \/>\nOSI 7-layer model as defined by ISO 7498 with the<br \/>\nexception that frame delimiters are in the physical layer. <\/p>\n<p>A fieldbus is a digital, serial, multidrop data bus for communication with low level<br \/>\n industrial control and instrumentation devices such as transducers, actuators, and<br \/>\nlocal controllers. The Physical Layer here specified provides for transparent transmission<br \/>\n of data units between Data Link Layer entities across physical connections.
