This International Standard is applicable to:<\/p>\n
flow-metering devices that are connected, either directly or by means of flexible connecting assemblies, and disconnected by the operator at terminal units of a medical gas pipeline system for flow adjustment, measurement and delivery of medical gases;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
flow-metering devices that are connected and disconnected by the operator at gas-specific connection points of devices such as pressure regulators.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
1.2<\/b><\/p>\n
This International Standard applies to:<\/p>\n
flow-metering devices intended to be used with the following medical gases:<\/p>\n
oxygen;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
nitrous oxide;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
medical air;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
carbon dioxide;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
oxygen\/nitrous oxide mixture [50 %\/50 % (by volume)];<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
specified mixtures of the gases listed above;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
flow-metering devices intended to be used with the following gases:<\/p>\n
oxygen-enriched air;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
helium;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
xenon.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
\nNOTE Regional or national regulations might permit use of oxygen-specific connection points for oxygen-enriched air.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This International Standard does not apply to electrical or electronic flow-metering devices.<\/p>\n

This International Standard does not apply to gases used for driving surgical tools.<\/p>\n
