This Standard specifies a method for assessing the heat penetration resistance of materials intended for use in protective clothing to protect against splashes of molten metal.
It covers the assessment of the effects of splashes of molten aluminium, molten cryolite, molten copper, molten iron and molten mild steel.

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/ lEC Guide 21-1.
