This document is an amendment to EN ISO 16089, which mainly deals with the required wall thicknesses of enclosures to prevent the ejection of fragments. Furthermore, the requirements for the reliability of safety functions in Table 3 have been partially revised. In addition, the wall thickness tables for abrasive product guards in Annex A were revised and editorial errors were corrected. EN ISO 16089:2015 specifies the requirements and/or measures to eliminate the hazards or reduce the risks for manually controlled grinding machines without power operated axes and without numerical control, for manually controlled grinding machines with power operated axes and limited numerically controlled capability and for numerically controlled grinding machines. It is applicable for stationary grinding machines which are designed primarily to shape metal by grinding. This document covers the relevant significant hazards and applies to ancillary devices, which are integral to the machine, e. g. workpiece holding devices.
