It is applicable to all semi-crystalline polymers and their compounds.<\/p>\n<div class=\"non-normative-note\">\n<div class=\"note-label\">\n  NOTE&nbsp;1\n <\/div>\n<p>Method A can also be useful for the evaluation of the softening of non-crystalline solids.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Method&nbsp;B: Polarizing microscope<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This method is based on changes in the optical properties of the polymer. It is applicable to polymers containing a birefringent crystalline phase. It may not be suitable for plastics compounds containing pigments and\/or other additives which could interfere with the birefringence of the polymeric crystalline zone.<\/p>\n<div class=\"non-normative-note\">\n<div class=\"note-label\">\n  NOTE&nbsp;2\n <\/div>\n<p>Another method applicable to semi-crystalline polymers is described in <span class=\"std\"><span class=\"std-ref\">ISO&nbsp;11357-3<\/span><\/span>, <i>Plastics&nbsp;\u2014 Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)&nbsp;\u2014 Part&nbsp;3: Determination of temperature and enthalpy of melting and crystallization<\/i>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><b>BS EN ISO 3146.
