In particular, it:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>provides a generic framework for a resilience programme, incorporating the principles of integrated emergency management (IEM) (see Clause&nbsp;<b>3<\/b>);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>promotes a consistent approach to, and understanding of, resilience;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>defines and demonstrates the importance of resilience in the context of health;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>provides tangible and practical methods for applying resilience principles to all NHS-funded organizations;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>identifies the BCM processes and the statutory and policy framework that enable health economies to respond to, and recover from, disruptions;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>highlights the relationship between the commissioning and the provision of healthcare services in the context of resilience;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>provides guidance for the implementation of resilience.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i>NOTE&nbsp;1 Although this PAS is intended primarily for NHS-funded organizations, its recommendations and guidance are also applicable to independent organizations.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i>NOTE&nbsp;2 Throughout this document cross-reference is made between numbered sections.
