This Part of BS 1892 specifies general requirements for gymnasium equipment for which particular requirements are specified in BS 1892-2.6 and BS 1892-2.11.

BS 1892-2 comprises a number of Sections each of which deals with a particular type or a particular group of equipment. Equipment of a particular type can only be considered as complying with BS 1892 when all the requirements of Part 1 and of the relevant Section of Part 2 are met.
