Protect against fire and explosion hazards. NFPA 86 provides the best practices for oven and furnace installation.
Updated to help you work safely and efficiently, the 2007 NFPA 86: Ovens and Furnaces provides comprehensive requirements for the safe design; installation; operation; and inspection, testing, and maintenance of Class A, B, C, and D ovens, dryers, and furnaces.
Individual chapters contain rules for each equipment class. Provisions are also provided for location and construction; furnace heating systems; safety equipment and application; thermal oxidizers; and fire protection.
In the reorganized, user-friendly 2007 edition:
- New Chapter 7, Commissioning, Operations, Maintenance, Inspection and Testing, expands on the former requirements.
- Logic system requirements are relocated into appropriate sections for general, hardwired, and PLC-based rules.
- Updated requirements address the use of interposing relays in safety logic and time delays.
Other changes further assist your work with PLCs.
Requirements for programmable logic controllers have been updated and now address all types of commercially available equipment, including standard industrial controllers, controllers listed for combustion safety service, and controllers listed for process safety service.
