This Standard specifies the requirements for hot-rolled steel sheets, plates and strips (hereafter referred to as steel sheets, plates and strips) used for welded gas cylinders with an internal capacity of 500 L or less to be filled with various high pressure gases such as LP gas and acetylene.

NOTE The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

ISO 4978:2018 Steel sheet and strip for welded gas cylinders (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/ IEC Guide 21-1.
